Photography is a powerful way to tell your story, and self-expression is at the heart of what we do at AbleVoices. This year’s theme is SUPER PHUN! We’re asking participants to share photos that highlight the fun, joy, and excitement in their lives. These could be activities that make you smile, adventures you’ve enjoyed, or hobbies and passions that bring you happiness. Whether it’s about cherished memories, meaningful places, or things that make you laugh, we want to see how YOU have PHUN!
To join the Photo SLAM! 2025, participants need to purchase a ticket ($10 suggested donation). Once submitted, we’ll send you the photo submission instructions- it is a simple process.

Photo SLAM!
Are you a professional or amatuer photographer? If so, we invite you to share your photos among PHriends (including AbleVoices photographers) at our inaugural Photo SLAM! event. Much like a poetry slam, photographers will get 3 minutes to share up to 5 photos.
Using photos as a means for self-expression is a big part of what we do here at AbleVoices. Thus, the theme for our inaugural Photo SLAM! event is SUPER YOU! Participant photos should represent aspects of themselves that they’d like to share with others. This may be people, places and things that are important to you. It could be strengths (activities you are good at or positive character traits you possess) or challenges you face. Your photos also could represent your interests, preferences, or passions. The possibilities are endless, but the most important thing is that your photos say something about YOU! Let’s get to know each other through our photographs!
Twelve photographers who submit photos will be selected via lottery to share during the event… but all photographers who submitted photos should come prepared to share! Each of the selected photographers will have 3 minutes to share about how their photos represent themselves… remember, the theme is Super You! ALL photographers who submitted photos (including those who did not present) will have their name and photos showcased on our Photo SLAM! web page and on social media.
AbleVoices has selected a panel of judges that will announce awards at the end of the event. Non-presenting photographers are also eligible for awards. Prizes will be given to all awardees!
Photo SLAM! participants must reserve a ticket for entry on the evening of this FREE and PHun event. Once you reserve your ticket, we will email you the easy submission instructions.
Want to attend but not share? That’s ok, too! If you are a photographer or have an interest in photography but would rather not share photos this time around, you are welcome to attend as well! Visit this link to reserve tickets to this FREE and PHun event.
Thank you for your interest in participating in the AbleVoices inaugural Photo SLAM! event! Please contact Sharon Thompson with any questions at sharon@ablevoices.org.
